Salvatrice “Sally” Dietrick

Salvatrice “Sally” Dietrick, 92, of Pittston Township, passed away peacefully Sunday, June 21, 2020, in Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre.

Sally was born on August 16, 1927 to Charles and Rose Asaro Bufalino. She attended Pittston Schools and lived in Pittston Township for over 50 years. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Parish and its Altar and Rosary Society. She had previously served as Eucharist Minister.

Sally was employed in the garment industry for most of her life and for many years owned and operated Sal-Dee Fashions. Following her retirement, she worked as a health care aide. Sally also worked as a child care assistant at the Pittston YMCA until her final retirement at the age of 91. Her strength and determination to be independent and enjoy life to the fullest was seen in everything she did. Throughout her life she worked tirelessly to support herself and her family.

She was preceded in death by her son, Salvatore Francis, former husband, Joseph and her siblings, brothers Angelo and Larry Bufalino and sister, Rose Halkias.

She is survived by her children, Joseph and Carol, Pittston Twp.; Frank, Florida; Charles and Jane, Pittston Twp., Ronald and Catherine, Yatesville; and daughter-in-law, Ruth Dietrick, Yatesville. In addition, she is survived by her grandchildren, Joseph, Jon, Jeffrey and Robert Dietrick, Frank and Daniel Dietrick, Carla and Jennifer Dietrick, Melissa Kintzel, Ronald Dietrick and Salvatore Dietrick. Sally was also blessed with great grandchildren, Matthew, Ryan, Tessa, Cleo, Trent, Tyler, Emily and Juna, Frank and Brianna, Ethan, Julia and Avery, her special joy, Salvatore and her “adopted” great grandchildren, Sahara and Eliza. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were the pride and joy of her life. She is also survived by sister, Mary Broome, New Jersey and brother, Charles, Texas, and her loving cousins, Mary Jo Dileo, Grace Hassey and their families as well as several nieces, nephews, and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. John the Evangelist Church, Pittston at a future date to be announced.Arrangements are entrusted to Adonizio Funeral Home, LLC, 251 William Street, Pittston.
