Mary A. Hensley, 92, of Hughestown, entered into eternal rest very peacefully on Thursday, December 31, 2015 in Wesley Village, Jenkins Township.
Born in Dupont, on September 15, 1923, she was the daughter of the late John Rossi and Matilda D’Aloise Rossi Bori.
Mary was a 1941 graduate of Hughestown High School. She was a homemaker all her life, a loving daughter to her mother, a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
She was a life member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, now St. Joseph Marello Parish and its Altar and Rosary Society. She was also a member of the Hughestown Hose Company Ladies Auxiliary for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence W. Hensley Jr.; an infant daughter; and a brother, Felix Rossi.
Surviving are her son, Dr. Joseph Hensley and his wife Celeste, York, PA; daughters, Barbara Lyders and her husband William, Manassas, VA; Pat Amditis, Hughestown; and Marie Tirrell and her husband Michael, Leesburg, VA; grandchildren, Amy Merlino; Lori Brady and her husband Brian; Michael Amditis; David Lyders and his wife Leslie; Dr. Eric Lyders and his wife Jessa; Megan Lyders and her fiancé Mikey Goldenberg; Emily, Katie and Maggie Tirrell; 7 great-grandchildren; a step-sister, Elizabeth Pirrello, Lansdale; numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff of Wesley Village, especially the staff of the Serenity Unit, for the excellent care and compassion given to Mary.
Mary prayed for and supported many charitable organizations. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Mother Cabrini League, 434 W. Deming Pl, Chicago, IL 60614.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, January 2, 2016 at 9:30am in St. Joseph Marello Parish, 237 William Street, Pittston. Those attending are asked to go directly to the church on Saturday morning. Friends may call Friday, January 1, 2016 from 6pm-8pm at the Peter J. Adonizio Funeral Home, 251 William Street, Pittston.
