Jeanne (Cioci) Rowker, 70, of Pittston Township, passed away peacefully at River Run Rehabilitation Center, Kingston on Wednesday, January 6, 2016.
Jeanne, the daughter of the late Michael and Ann (Cituk) Rowker, was born on September 18, 1945. She graduated from Northeast High School in 1963 and was a faithful, lifelong member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Dupont.
Jeanne was employed by Bell Telephone for 29 years until 1993 when she was forced into an early retirement because of her poor health. Jeanne was a member of the Bell Telephone Pioneers Club.
Throughout her life, Jeanne enjoyed vacationing with friends, dancing, and eating out. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends. Jeanne’s quick wit and entertaining stories will be missed by all who knew her.
Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Ann Rowker; sister, Elizabeth (Betty) Ann Rowker Calabro; brother-in-law, Frank Calabro; grandparents; aunts; uncles; cousins and friends.
Surviving are her sister Patricia Gubitose; brother-in-law, Fred Gubitose; niece Maria Gubitose Dominick and her husband Joe and their children Giuliana and Paulie; niece, Teresa Calabro Pinzon and her husband Gus and their children Ryan and Gianna; nephew, Anthony Calabro and his wife Jodi and their son Anthony; uncle, Mike Cituk and his wife Lois and aunt Leona Rowker.
Throughout her illness, Jeanne was grateful to all her doctors and nurses. On her behalf Jean asked to thank them. Special gratitude is extended to Dr. Gibbons, Dr. Greenwald, Dr. Brereton, Dr. Dalesandro, Dr. Costello, Nurse Practitioner Courtney McDonough, nurses and staff of River Run. Jean also wanted to thank her caregivers: Fred and Patty Gubitose, Vincent Waszczak, Ann Hrobak, Frances Musto and Carl Angelella.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, January 11, 2016 at 11:00am in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 215 Lackawanna Avenue, Dupont. The family will receive friends and relatives in the church from 9:00am until the time of mass. Interment will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Carverton. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Medical Oncology Associates Prescription Fund, 382 Pierce Street, Kingston, PA 18704 or to Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 215 Lackawanna Avenue, Dupont, PA 18641. Arrangements are entrusted to the Peter J. Adonizio Funeral Home, Pittston.
