James J. Heffron


James J. Heffron, 83, of Yatesville, passed away Friday, April 1, 2016 in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. Born on September 9, 1932 in Dickson City, he was the son of the late James and Carmella Falcone Heffron.

He was a graduate of St. John’s High School and Wilkes-Barre Business College. He served in the US Airforce during the Korean Conflict. He retired as in-house accountant for Sea Isle Sportswear, a division of Manhattan Shirt.

He had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed time with this family and good friends. He was an avid Notre Dame football fan and traveled along with his wife and friends to attend many football games in South Bend, Indiana. He was also a fan of the Boston Red Sox. He enjoyed family trips to Brigantine, New Jersey.

He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church, Pittston.

Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Molly Connors Heffron; daughter, Anne Heffron, North Wales, PA; son, Jim Heffron at home; sisters, Jane Doran, Chandler, AZ and Ann Walsh, Centerville, VA; brother-in-law, John Connors, Duryea; numerous nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, April 4, 2016 at 10:00am in St. John the Evangelist Church, 35 William Street, Pittston with Msgr. John Bendik officiating. Those attending are asked to go directly to the church on Monday morning. Friends may call Sunday, April 3, 2016 from 5pm-8pm at the Peter J. Adonizio Funeral Home, 251 William Street, Pittston. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in St. John the Evangelist Cemetery, Pittston. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Care and Concern Ministries, 35 William Street, Pittston, PA 18640.
