Mary Jo A. Chiumento, 71, of Yatesville, passed away surrounded by her family on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 in Riverstreet Manor, Wilkes-Barre. Born in Pittston on March 21, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Della Burgio Rostock.
She was a graduate of Northeast High School and Lackawanna College, receiving an associate’s degree in Business Administration. She was a life member of St. Joseph Marello Parish, Pittston and a member of the Josephite-Marellian Laity at St. Joseph’s Oblates. She retired from Luzerne Intermediate Unit #18 where she had worked as a secretary. She was a loving wife, mother, sister and aunt and will be greatly missed.
Surviving are her husband of 47 years, Nick Chiumento, Sr.; son, Nick Chiumento, Jr. and his girlfriend, Marissa May; brother, Tony (A.J.) Rostock and his wife Teresa, all of Yatesville; cousins; nieces; nephews; great-nieces; great-nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Riverstreet Manor for their exceptional care. They are also grateful for the staff at the offices of Dr. Michalene Torbik, Dr. David Greenwald, and Dr. Luther Brady.
Funeral services will be Monday, May 2, 2016 at 9am from the Peter J. Adonizio Funeral Home, 251 William Street, Pittston with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30am in St. Joseph Marello Parish, 237 William Street, Pittston. Interment will follow in St. Rocco’s Cemetery, Pittston Township. Friends may call Sunday, May 1, 2016 from 2pm – 7pm at the funeral home.
