Rose E. Marriggi, 98 years old, passed away on Tuesday, June 7th surrounded by her loving family at her home on Mill Street in Pittston. Daughter of Christina Bartoletti and Francesco Nardi, Rose took the name Marriggi from her husband, Leroy. She demonstrated her love in the raising of their three daughters: Elaine, Vivian and Valerie. Like any old-school Italian mother, she carried on the traditions and heritage of her family through her expertise in cooking. Her life exemplified commitment, with her marriage to Leroy for 74 years. She was truly cherished, evident by the care that Leroy and her daughters gave her in her final years. Rose showed extraordinary pride in her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and instilled in them a desire to excel and succeed.
She was preceded in death by her loving grandson Edward C. Griglock; brothers, Marty and Patrick Nardi; sisters, Mary Piccioni and Elizabeth Stella. Surviving her is her dedicated husband, Leroy C. Marriggi; daughters, Elaine Marriggi, Vivian Trottini and husband Robert, and Valerie Griglock and husband Edward; grandchildren, Christine Trottini and husband Paul Hindmarsh, Robert Trottini and wife Donna, Michael Trottini and wife Candice, and Jennifer Griglock-Haggerty and husband Kevin Haggerty; great-grandchildren, Madison, Matthew and Vianna Hindmarsh, Francesca and Robbie Trottini, Kevin and Giovanna Haggerty and Emma Griglock.
Funeral services will be Monday, June 13, 2016 at 9:00am from the Peter J. Adonizio Funeral Home, 251 William Street, Pittston with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30am in St. Joseph Marello Parish, 237 William Street, Pittston. Entombment will follow in Denison Mausoleum, Swoyersville. Friends may call Sunday, June 12, 2016 from 4pm – 8pm at the funeral home.
