Elizabeth Vergilis Carriero, 96, a guest at Wesley Village, passed away Friday, July 8, 2016 in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. Born in the Old Boston Section of Jenkins Township on February 20, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Clementine Barbato Rubino.
She was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, now St. Joseph Marello Parish, Pittston.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt and will be truly missed.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers Anthony, Joseph, Floyd and Augustine “Tiny” Rubino; sisters, Theresa Bianco and Josephine Bianco.
Surviving are sons, George J. Vergilis, Jr. and his wife Joanne; Anthony J. Vergilis and his wife Carol; and Gerald A. Vergilis and his wife Peggy Aritz Vergilis; brothers, Ralph (Ray) Rubino and John Rubino; six grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at 9:00am from the Peter J. Adonizio Funeral Home, 251 William Street, Pittston with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30am in St. Joseph Marello Parish, 237 William Street, Pittston. Interment will be at the convenience of the family. Friends may call Monday, July 11, 2016 from 5pm-8pm at the funeral home.
