Joseph C. Anzalone, 92, of Pittston passed away Tuesday, August 23, 2016 in Wesley Village, Pittston. Born in Pittston on October 5, 1923, he was the son of the late Vincent and Grace Arcadipani Anzalone.
He was a graduate of Pittston High School, Class of 1941 and proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Prior to retirement, he was the Chief Appraiser for Luzerne County Assessors Department and was also a Real Estate Broker, having owned Keystone Real Estate Company. He was Secretary of the Greater Pittston Area Industrial Development Authority.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Linda Anzalone; brothers the Rev. Sam, OSJ; Anthony; Cataldo (Ky); Angelo; James; and John Anzalone; and sister Catherine Fusco.
Surviving are his wife of 69 years, Gloria Andaloro Anzalone, Wesley Village; son, Vincent Anzalone, Harveys Lake; daughters, Joyce Anzalone, Hanover Township and Gloria Anzalone, Ft. Lauderdale, FL; grandchildren, Daphne Pugh and her husband Jarod; Christopher Shaffer; and Emily Norris and her husband Michael; great-grandchildren, Chase, Chloe, Claire and Cole Pugh; Brooke and Kaitlyn Norris; sisters, Josephine Klimek, Wyoming and Grace Williams and her husband Joseph, California; numerous nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank the staff and nurses at St. Luke’s Villa for their kind care of their father over the past few years. The family also extends its heartfelt gratitude to the nursing staff at Wesley Village for their compassionate care of their father in his final days.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, August 27, 2016 at 10:30am in St. Joseph Marello Parish, 237 William Street, Pittston. Those attending are asked to go directly to the church. There will be no calling hours. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in St. Rocco’s Cemetery, Pittston Township. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Peter J. Adonizio Funeral Home, 251 William Street, Pittston.
