Joseph Garrubba, 97, of Pittston passed away Friday, August 26, 2016 in Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township. Born in New York City, New York, he was the son of the late Angelo and Rosina Buchieri Garrubba.
He attended Pittston schools. Lived most of his life in the Pittston area. He was involved in sales in PA and later in CA. Upon returning to PA he was involved in real estate development.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Alethea (Quinn) Garrubba; son-in-law, Glenn Casterline; brothers, Tom, Sam and Vince Garrubba.
Surviving are his son, Joseph Garrubba and his wife, Tammy, Pacifica, CA; daughter, Judy Casterline, Anaheim Hills, CA; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Grace Giordano, Jenkins Township; brother, John Garrubba and his wife Anne, Jenkins Township; numerous nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at 9:30am in St. John the Evangelist Church, 35 William Street, Pittston. Those attending are asked to go directly to the church on Wednesday morning. Interment, St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover. Friends may call Tuesday, September 6, 2016 from 6pm-8pm at the Peter J. Adonizio Funeral Home, 251 William Street, Pittston.
