Marie A. Longo Delmonte, 94, of Hughestown, passed away Tuesday, September 20, 2016 in Mountain View Care Center, Scranton. Born in Dunmore on June 5, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Mary Caputo Longo.
She was a graduate of Dunmore High School and Marywood College.
In her earlier years, she taught Business Education at Matamoras and Port Jervis High Schools. She later worked at Tobyhanna Army Depot where she was the first female executive secretary. There she met her husband, James V. Delmonte who passed away September 12, 2013.
She was a member of St. Joseph Marello Parish, Pittston. She was a loving mother and will be greatly missed.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Donato Longo.
Surviving are her children, Nina Flanagan and her husband Edward, Dunmore; Donna Delmonte, Hughestown; and James Delmonte and his partner Anthony Stankowski, NYC; aunt, Catherine Mecca, Dunmore; brother-in-law, John Delmonte, Hughestown; sister-in-law, Mary Delmonte, Dupont; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Special thanks to the entire staff at Mountain View Care Center for the kind and loving care provided to Marie as well as to her personal care aides, Alnisa Hardy and Chrystal Blackwell and her special friend Paula Pendrak.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at 10:30am St. Joseph Marello Parish, 237 William Street, Pittston. The family will receive friends and relatives in the church hall vestibule from 9:30am until the time of mass. Interment will be at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are entrusted to the Peter J. Adonizio Funeral Home, 251 William Street, Pittston.
