Samuel Chairge, 80, of Pittston Township, passed away Monday, October 10, 2016. Born in Pittston Township on November 3, 1935, he was the son of the late Samuel and Carmella (Mongiello) Chairge.
Sam was a graduate of Pittston Township High School and served in the US Army. He had been employed in the local garment industry.
He was a life-member of St. Joseph Marello Parish, Pittston and a member of the Federation of the Oblates of St. Joseph Cooperators.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Michael, Dr. Peter, and Joseph Chairge and sisters, Mary King, Rose Gross, Regina Chairge, Susan Zabreski and Josephine DeSanto.
Surviving are brothers, Patrick Chairge; Anthony Chairge and his wife Patricia; and John Chairge; and sister-in-law, Ruth Chairge, all of Pittston Township; numerous nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at 10:00am in St. Joseph Marello Parish, 237 William Street, Pittston. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in St. Rocco’s Cemetery, Pittston Township. The family will receive friends and relatives in the church hall vestibule Wednesday morning from 8:30am until the time of the mass. The family requests that flowers be omitted and memorial donations be made to the charity of the donor’s choice. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Peter J. Adonizio Funeral Home, 251 William Street, Pittston.
