Anthony J. (A.J.) Rostock, 67, of Yatesville, passed away Monday, December 19, 2016 in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Born in Pittston on September 10, 1949, he was the son of the late Ralph and Della Burgio Rostock.
He was a graduate of Pittston Area High School, and received his bachelor’s degree from Mansfield University and his master’s degree from the University of Scranton. Tony was a reading specialist for LIU 18 for 35 years in the non-public schools. He also owned and operated a landscaping business for 20 years. He was a Pittston Area School Board Director for 16 years and was involved in both county and Greater Pittston politics.
In his earlier years, he enjoyed skiing and playing tennis. He was an avid golfer. He truly enjoyed following his son Ralph’s sporting events. He was a member of St. Joseph Marello Parish, Pittston.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Jo A. Chiumento on April 27, 2016.
Surviving are his wife of 33 years, Teresa Rogo Rostock; son, Ralph Rostock and Rachel Huntley and their daughter, the light of Tony’s life, Della Rostock; brothers-in-law, Nick Chiumento Sr., Yatesville; Arthur Rogo and his wife Barbara, Plains; and Joseph Rogo and his wife Margaret, Jenkins Township; sister-in-law, Fran Prusinski, Old Forge; uncle, Anthony Rostock formerly of West Pittston; cousins; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Friday, December 23, 2016 at 9am from the Peter J. Adonizio Funeral Home, 251 William Street, Pittston with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30am in St. Joseph Marello Parish, Pittston. Interment, St. Rocco’s Cemetery, Pittston Township. Friends may call Thursday, December 22, 2016 from 4pm-7pm at the funeral home. If desired, memorial donations may be made to Miles for Michael or to the Care and Concern Ministries.
