David M. Pahl


David M. Pahl, 70, of Jenkins Township, passed away Tuesday, April 18, 2017 in Post Acute Medical Hospital, Wilkes-Barre, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Pittston on June 3, 1946, he was the son of the late Charles and Grace Pahl Vaiksnis.

He was a graduate of Pittston High School and Luzerne County Community College. Dave was a proud US Air Force veteran serving in Vietnam.

He was employed in the food service industry in many different capacities for over fifty years. Throughout his life, Dave was honored with many professional and civic awards such as the national Melvin Jones Award for his work as a charter member of the Hughestown Lions Club. He was involved in local politics for many years. He was an active member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Hughestown and a member of the Jenkins Township Planning Commission.

Dave married his high school sweetheart, the former Rita Hensley. They celebrated 50 years of marriage on July 23, 2016. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Joseph Vaiksnis; brother, Charles Pahl and twin sister, Beverly Boos.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Tracy Carey and her husband Dean, Exeter; and Terri Amici and her husband John, Havre de Grace, MD; five grandchildren who were the light of his life, Ryan, Michael and Lindsay Carey and David and Christian Amici; brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law; nieces; nephews; and cousins.

Funeral services will be Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 11am in St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, corner of Rock and Center Streets, Hughestown. Those attending are asked to go directly to the church on Saturday morning. Interment will follow in Memorial Shrine, Wyoming. Friends may call Friday, April 21, 2017 from 4pm-8pm at Adonizio Funeral Home LLC, 251 William Street, Pittston. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to American Heart Association, American Diabetic Association or to Hughestown Lions Club.
