Angela M. Aita


Angela M. Aita, 75, of Pittston Township, passed away Friday, May 26, 2017 in Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township. Born in Pittston Township on April 25, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Vincent James and Angela (Cannerossi) Aita.

She was a graduate of Pittston Township High School, class of 1959; Pittston Hospital School of Nursing, class of 1962; and Kings College where she received a Physician’s Assistant Degree. Angela had worked as a Physician’s Assistant in Taylor Hospital, Philadelphia and also worked for many years for Dr. Joseph Lombardo.

Angela was a life member of St. Joseph Marello Parish, Pittston where she was also Eucharistic Minister and a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. She was a member of Pittston Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Society.

She enjoyed gardening; making wine and she even enjoyed hunting. Angela loved being with her family and family parties; especially Saturday morning breakfast with her great niece and great nephews. She was a loving sister, aunt, and cousin and will be dearly missed.

The family extends a special thank you to Dr. Deepak Singh and the entire staff at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Critical Care Unit for their compassion and care; as well as to her niece, Bonnie Montini for the care and devotion shown to her aunt Angela during her illness.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brother-in-law, Tony Montini and nephews, Richard Montini and Bruce Koerber.

Surviving are her siblings, Carmel Montini, Pittston Township; Patrick Aita and his wife Eleanor, Hughestown; Rosaria Aita, Pittston Township and James Aita and his wife Elaine, Scranton; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at 9am from Adonizio Funeral Home, LLC, 251 William Street, Pittston with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30am in St. Joseph Marello Parish, 237 William Street, Pittston. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Carverton. Friends may call Monday, May 29, 2017 from 4pm-8pm at the funeral home.
