Helen (“Ella Mae”) Marie Lawler, 95, formerly of Pittston, passed away Monday, June 12, 2017 surrounded by her family. Born in Pittston on January 26, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Anna (Corcoran) Murphy.
She was a graduate of Marywood College in 1942 earning a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics. She had worked as a Dietitian at Nanticoke State Hospital and Wilkes-Barre General Hospital and, prior to retirement, she was a consulting Dietitian for Highland Manor, Exeter.
She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church, Pittston.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas M. Lawler, Sr.; daughter, Ellen M. Lawler and son-in-law, Gerard A. Hines.
Surviving are her daughter, Mary Ann Hines, East Stroudsburg; son, Atty. Thomas M. Lawler Jr and his wife Laura, Virginia; grandchildren, Patricia Ann Hines; Mary Eileen Hines Wurz and Matthew William Lawler; great-grandchildren, Riley and Morgan Wurz; numerous nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, June 16, 2017 at 9:30am in St. John the Evangelist Church, 35 William Street, Pittston. Those attending are asked to go directly to the church on Friday morning. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Friends may call Thursday, June 15, 2017 from 5pm – 7pm at Adonizio Funeral Home, LLC, 251 William Street, Pittston. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Christchurch School, 49 Seahorse Lane, Christchurch, VA 23031.
