Thomas F. Connors


Thomas F. Connors, 83, of Pittston Township, passed away Saturday, July 1, 2017 in Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township. Born in Pittston on August 29, 1933, he was the son of the late Thomas and Eva Harrington Connors.

He was a graduate of St. John the Evangelist High School, Pittston and served in the U.S. Marine Corp. He retired from U.S. Post Office where he had worked as a letter carrier for 35 years. He also worked as a courier for First Eastern Bank and PNC Bank for many years.

Sgt. Connors proudly served as a machine gunner, 1st Battalion, 3rd Marine Division, Fleet Marine Force in the United States Marine Corp. He always enjoyed the traditions with fellow Marines, offering a Semper Fi to his Marine Corp family. He was a life member of St. John the Evangelist Church, Pittston; a member of Greater Pittston Friendly Sons of St. Patrick; a third degree member of the Knights of Columbus JFK Council 372; and past president of Seton Catholic Men’s Club. He was an avid University of Notre Dame fan and New York Yankees Baseball fan attending countless games over his lifetime. He instilled his passion for God, Country, and Notre Dame within his family.

His wife, children, grandchildren and family was most important in his life, never missing an opportunity to spend time with them. He will be truly missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother, Robert; a brother, Jerry Connors; and a sister, Sr. Eva Connors, IHM.

Surviving are his wife of 53 years Margaret Elizabeth (Betty) Wilson Connors; daughters, Karen Lettieri and her husband Fred, Old Forge and Kathleen Connors and Bob Mahle, Wyoming; son, Tom Connors and his wife Kelly, Pittston Township; grandchildren, T.J. and Sean Connors; Freddie and Ryan Lettieri and Julie Ann Mahle; sister, Romaine Connors, Florida; sister-in-law, Patricia Starace, NJ; brother-in-law, William R. Wilson and his wife Mary, NJ; numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Thursday, July 6, 2017 at 9:15am from Adonizio Funeral Home, LLC, 251 William Street, Pittston with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in St. John the Evangelist Church, 35 William Street, Pittston. Interment will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Carverton. Friends may call Wednesday, July 5, 2017 from 5pm-8pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Pittston Area Band Boosters or to Care and Concern Ministries.
