Doris J. Pega


Doris J. Pega, 88, of Exeter, passed away Sunday, August 20, 2017 in Wesley Village, Pittston. Born in Pittston on April 10, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Victor and Elisa (Anastasia) Italiani.

She was a graduate of Jenkins Township High School and had worked in the local garment industry. She was a member of the ILGW Union and St. Barbara’s Parish, Exeter.

Mrs. Pega was known as “Mommy Pega” to the Morgan children whom she loved like her own and “Dolly” to her grandchildren who were her greatest treasures. She enjoyed cooking for her family and was happiest when she was making sauce and pasta. She also enjoyed shopping and visiting Mohegan Sun Casino. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister and will be truly missed.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters, Argie Centrella, Lena Rogan, and Ann Italiani.

Surviving are her husband, Walter Pega. They celebrated 63 years of marriage on July 24, 2017. Also surviving are son, John Pega, Exeter and daughter, Lisa Kohut and her husband Robert, Pittston; grandchildren, Marius and Cameron Kohut; sister, Mary Pizano and her husband Charles, Exeter; numerous nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, August 24, 2017 at 10:00am in The Parish of St. Barbara, 28 Memorial Street, Exeter. Those attending are asked to go directly to the church. Entombment will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Carverton. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are entrusted to Adonizio Funeral Home, LLC, 251 William Street, Pittston.
