Minnie Ann Melvin


Minnie Ann Melvin, 91, formerly of Hughestown, and more recently a resident of Myers Manor, Pittston, passed away peacefully in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital on Wednesday, September 27, 2017.

Minnie was born August 24, 1926, daughter of the late Anthony and Ida Rubin. She was a graduate of Hughestown High School, class of 1944.

In the past, she was employed by Metropolitan Insurance Company and prior to her retirement was employed by the Pittston Memorial Library.

She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Parish Community. She was a former member of the Hughestown Hose Company Ladies Auxiliary.

Minnie will dearly be remembered as a person of deep faith, kind, caring and supportive with a generous heart and will be sadly missed.

Minnie was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Martin Melvin in February of 2017; brother Michael Rubin and sister-in-law Lillian Rubin, brother-in-law John Klimek, brother-in-law Eugene Melvin, and sister-in-law Flora Melvin.

Surviving are sister Antoinette Klimek, Hughestown; brother-in-law Joseph Melvin, New Jersey; brother-in-law Fred Melvin and wife Marie Melvin of West Pittston; sister-in-law Marie Lucille Melvin of West Pittston and sister-in-law Betty Melvin, Pittston; numerous nieces and nephews.

A special thank you to all the special people at the Wesley Village Community and the exceptional staff when help was needed; and to Doctors Joseph Lombardo; Mauer Biscotti and James Kosik for their dedication and care along with the staff in CCU, Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. Last, but not least, to Ann and Nick, Anthony and Maryann who were in constant touch. Also, the long and lasting friendship of Dee and Ella and kind neighbor Mary.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, October 2, 2017 at 10am in St. John the Evangelist Church, 35 William Street, Pittston. The family will receive friends and relatives in the Church from 9am until the time of mass. Interment, parish cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Care and Concern Ministries, 35 William Street, Pittston. Arrangements are entrusted to Adonizio Funeral Home, LLC, 251 William Street, Pittston.
