Dora T. Ostrowski


Dora T. Ostrowski, 89, of Avoca, passed away Sunday, October 29, 2017 at home. Born in Taylor, on April 17, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Marino and Catherine Salio.

Dora was a graduate of Hughestown High School and worked in the local garment industry.

She was a member of the former Ss. Peter and Paul church, now Queen of Apostles Parish, Avoca. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and aunt and enjoyed cooking and baking and will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, Dora is preceded in death by her husband, Sylvester Ostrowski; brother, Joe Salio; sister Jean Gifford; as well as daughter-in-law, Cathy Soltis Ostrowski and infant grandson, Sean Ostrowski.

Dora is survived by her son, Francis Ostrowski and wife Kathy, Pittston; grandchildren, Lori Ostrowski with whom she resided, Ryan, and Cedd Schuler, Megan and Justin Galichinski, Stephanie Markert, and Lindsey Krynak; two great-grandchildren; her sister, Clara Copp; and numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, who she adored.

The family would like to thank Dr. Moran and his staff, the staffs at both Scranton Health Care Center and Regional Hospital Scranton, as well as Allied Hospice.

A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Phillip J. Sladicka on Thursday, November 2, 2017 at 10AM in Queen of Apostles Parish, 715 Hawthorne St., Avoca. Those attending are asked to go directly to church on Thursday morning. Friends may call Wednesday, November 1, 2017 from 5-8PM at Adonizio Funeral Home, LLC, 251 William St., Pittston. Interment will follow at Ss. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Avoca.
