Eleanor Garzella, 93, formerly of Pittston, passed away at Wesley Village on Sunday, October 29, 2017. Born in Pittston on May 8, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Cataldo and Maria Rose (Lunetta) Maria.
Eleanor was graduate of Pittston High School and worked in the local garment industry. She was a member of the former St. Rocco’s Church now St. Joseph Marello Parish, Pittston.
Eleanor was known for her excellent sewing skills as well as her hair cutting skills. She cut the hair of most of her family members and all of her neighbors for many years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Garzella; brothers, Cataldo, Carl, Joseph, Sam, Angelo, Anthony, Eugene, and Emilio Maria; and sisters, Louise Maria, Grace Loquasto, and Marie Benfante.
Eleanor is survived by sons, Michael Garzella and his wife Carmella, West Pittston and Cataldo (Ki) Garzella and his wife Beverley, Pittston Twp.; daughter Rosina Garzella Spinosi, Exeter; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; Lynn and Joe Lundy and their children Jack and Resse, Chester Springs, Jamie and Liam Goodrick and their children Nina and Michael, Chester Springs, and Jessica Builder and her children Elena and E.J., Exeter; and sister-in-law Lucy Maria.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9AM Saturday, November 4, 2017 in Corpus Christi Parish, Immaculate Conception Church, 605 Luzerne Ave., West Pittston. Visitation will be held from 8AM until time of mass in the church. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in West Pittston Cemetery.
