Rita Rose Limongelli


Rita Rose Limongelli, 74, of West Pittston, passed away Friday, November 3, 2017, at home. Born in Pittston on May 7, 1943, she was the daughter of the late James and Ann (Ardo) Limongelli.

She was a graduate of Hughestown High School and a member of St. Joseph Marello Parish.

Rita’s greatest joy was her family. She truly enjoyed cooking and baking for them and loved family gatherings. She always did something to make family gatherings special. Rita lived for her children and grandchildren. She had a love of writing and was a published author having won the Golden Poet Award from the World of Poetry six times.

She never let her loss of sight or other health issues stop her. Her illnesses served to strengthen her faith in God, the Blessed Mother and St. Jude.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt and will be truly missed.

In addition to her parents, Rita was preceded in death by a brother, Rocco Limongelli; and sisters, Marianne Corridoni and Jean White.

Surviving are her children, Maria Teresa and her husband Peter G. West II, Nicholson; Dean Anthony Tonti, Jessup; Jerome Joseph Tonti and his wife Ann Tonti, Dalton; Judith Ann and her husband Daniel Granahan, Pittston Township; grandchildren, Emilee Tressa, Natalee Elizabeth, and Peter Gordon West III; Jerome Michael and Samantha Pearl Tonti; Sarah Marianne Wesoloski; Sean Michael, Daniella Maria, and Jacob Daniel Granahan; sister, Lucille Marie Perry, Plains Township; brothers, James Limongelli and his wife Cathy, Mountain Top, and Joseph Limongelli and his wife Marie, Pittston; former husband, Jerome Anthony Tonti, Jessup; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Special thank you to staff of Care Givers of America; Americare; and Hospice of the Sacred Heart for the care and commitment they provided to Rita.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at 9:00am from Adonizio Funeral Home, LLC, 251 William Street, Pittston with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30am in St. Joseph Marello Parish. Interment will follow in St. Rocco’s Cemetery, Pittston Township. Friends may call Tuesday, November 7, 2017 from 4pm-8pm at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Retinitis Pigmentosa Foundation, 1401 Mt. Royal Avenue, Baltimore, MD 21217.
