Eugene J. “Deuce” Kudey, Sr.


Eugene J. “Deuce” Kudey, Sr., 87, of Pittston passed away Monday, November 13, 2017 at home following a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Dupont on May 5, 1930, he was the son of the late John and Bertha “Blanche” Lacomis Kudey.

He attended Dupont High School and served in the US Coast Guard.

Deuce was an active member of the Dupont VFW and a lifetime fan of the New York Yankees. He was employed in the cigar industry and later retired as a supervisor in the garment industry.

Deuce was a member of St. Joseph Marello Parish, formerly Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Pittston.

Deuce will be remembered for his devotion and love for his wife, children, and family. He especially adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was incredibly active and was beloved by the community and his friends. Up until the time of his illness, he served as a long time bartender alongside his good friend, Ricky, at Andy’s Café in Dupont.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Carmella Lumia Kudey; brothers, Edward, Frank, and Ray Kudey; sisters, Irene Orloski; Helen Kutchmanich; and Loretta Budzelik; and granddaughter, Deanna Calabro.

Deuce is survived by his sister, Connie DiDario and her husband Robert of Old Forge; sons, Gene Kudey Jr. and wife Mary Kay of West Wyoming; John Kudey and wife Christine of Swoyersville; daughters, Ann Snyder and husband Steve of Exeter and Lorraine Kudey of Pittston, who was his dedicated caregiver; nine grandchildren, Jennifer, Joanne, Andrew, Matthew, John Jr., Philip, Stephanie, Caitlyn, and Dean; six great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law; numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to give special thanks and appreciation to the nurses and staff at Compassionate Care Hospice.

Funeral services will be Friday, November 17, 2017 at 9:00am from Adonizio Funeral Home, LLC, 251 William Street, Pittston with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30am in St. Joseph Marello Parish, 237 William Street, Pittston. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in Denison Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday, November 16, 2017 from 5pm – 8pm at the funeral home.
