Gordon J. Fleming


Gordon J. Fleming, 82, of Jenkins Township, passed away Wednesday, November 15, 2017, in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. Born in Philadelphia on December 11, 1934, he was the son of the late James and Margaret Tennett Fleming. He was a graduate of Olney High School, Philadelphia and served in the US Navy.

In his earlier years, Gordon had worked for the Railroad and was employed for many years as a salesman in the automotive industry.

He was a member of Our Lady of the Eucharist Parish, Pittston.

He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren and enjoyed traveling. He also enjoyed watching football especially the Philadelphia Eagles. He will be truly missed by family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Barbara Tribbet Fleming in 2010.

Surviving are daughters Jackie Fleming, Palmerton, Janet Shimp and Robert, Macungie and Donna Tigue, Duryea; sons Angelo Rizzo, Mt. Laurel, NJ and Joseph Rizzo and Janine, Willow Grove; grandchildren Tara, Brittany and Tyler Ward; Michael Noyola; Robert, Ryan and Alyssa Shimp; Zachery, Shannon and Kyle Rizzo; Trevor and Kendall Tigue; great-grandchildren Isabella and Abigail Marques; brother-in-law James Tribbet, Yatesville; nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, November 20, 2017, at 11:00am in Our Lady of the Eucharist Church, 535 North Main Street, Pittston. The family will receive friends and relatives in the church from 9:30am until the time of mass. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Assumption Cemetery, Hughestown. Arrangements are entrusted to Adonizio Funeral Home, LLC, 251 William Street, Pittston.
