Marie (Mary) L. Scarantino, 92, of Pittston, passed away Monday, December 11, 2017 in The Gardens at East Mountain, Plains Township. Born in Pittston on June 21, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Ross and Santa Mantione Alba.
Mary was a graduate of Pittston High School and worked in the local garment industry. She was a member of the former St. Rocco’s Church, now St. Joseph Marello Parish, Pittston.
Mary was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and she will be truly missed.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Louis R. Scarantino in 2003; brother, Angelo Alba and sister, Caroline Kowalski.
Surviving are her son, Joseph Scarantino and his wife Mary Pat, Pittston; daughters, Carol and her husband Leonard Benfante, Pittston and Santa and her husband Joseph Lane, Pittston; 4 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; brother Anthony Alba and his wife Anita, Pittston; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Special thank you to the nurses and staff at The Gardens at East Mountain, especially Diane and Mary, for the compassionate and loving care they provided to Mary over the years.
Funeral services will be Thursday, December 14, 2017 at 9:15am from Adonizio Funeral Home, LLC, 251 William Street, Pittston with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am in St. Joseph Marello Parish. Interment will be in St. Rocco’s Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Friends may call Thursday morning from 8:15 am until 9:15 am at the funeral home.
