Albert J. Caputo, 86, of Hughestown passed away Saturday, January 6, 2018 in NY Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center. Born in the Cork Lane Section of Pittston Township on July 22, 1931, he was the son of the late Joseph and Teresa Braido Caputo.
He was a graduate of Pittston Township High School and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He had been employed as a meat cutter.
Albert was an avid baseball fan. He enjoyed attending New York Yankee games and Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankee (formerly the Red Barons) games with his brother Geno. He and Geno also enjoyed bus trips to the Atlantic City casinos and going to Mohegan Sun casino as well as blueberry picking. He was a loving husband and father and will be truly missed by family and friends as well as by his grand-dog – Auzhie.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Frank Caputo and sisters, Claire Schutt and Del Phillips.
Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Leona (Tetlak) Caputo; daughter, Janet Caputo and husband Attilio Laschi; brother, Geno Caputo; sisters, Lucy Beshara and Rose LoBrutto; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Friday, January 12, 2018 at 10:15 am from Adonizio Funeral Home, LLC, 251 William Street, Pittston with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 215 Lackawanna Avenue, Dupont. Interment will be at the parish cemetery. Friends may call Thursday, January 11, 2018 from 4pm-7pm at the funeral home.
