Joseph L. Venetz, Jr., 64, of Exeter, passed away Saturday, January 6, 2018 at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. Born in Kingston on June 13, 1953, he was the son of the late Joseph L. and Helen Venetz and Marcella (Cavage) Venetz.
He attended Wyoming Area schools. Joe was an accomplished carpenter who took great pride in his work. Joe worked at Addy Asphalt Co., SamCar Real Estate Co., and retired from G.C. Wall Construction, Inc. in 2016.
He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Ann Didgeon.
Surviving is his wife of 42 years. Karen (Shotwell) Venetz; son, Joseph Venetz III and his wife Shari, Forty Fort; daughters, Brenda Hughes, Exeter and Sandra Roche and her husband Sean, Exeter; grandchildren, Brendan Venetz and Isabella Hughes, Joseph Venetz IV, Makada, Kianna, and Zachary Venetz, and Chloe Roche. Also surviving are brothers, Michael Venetz and his wife Janet, West Wyoming, and Richard Venetz and his wife Renee, Simpsonville, SC; sister, Patricia Parry, West Wyoming; and aunt, Mary Duffy, Henderson, NV.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at 9:30 am in Corpus Christi Parish, Immaculate Conception Church. Those attending are asked to go directly to the church on Wednesday. Interment will be at the convenience of the family. Friends may call Tuesday, January 9, 2018 from 5-8 pm at the Adonizio Funeral Home, LLC, 251 William St., Pittston.
