Carmella Stefanelli, 93, of West Pittston, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 10, 2018 in Geisinger, Wyoming Valley. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Anthony George Stefanelli on July 13, 2007 and her daughter, Marilyn Stepanski on September 11, 2004.
Born in Yatesville on September 6, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Placido and Christina Naples Lizza. She worked at Consolidated Cigar Company in West Pittston.
She was a caring mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She is survived by her two sons, Anthony and wife Karen, Thornhurst and John and wife Janice, West Pittston; her brothers, Anthony (Butch) Lizza and wife, Bernice, Yatesville; and Placido Lizza Jr. and wife, Karen, Plains; grandchildren, Joseph Stepanski and wife Lisa, Harding, Anthony Stepanski, Pittston, Dr. Gina Stefanelli and fiancé Tom Hughes, Bryn Mawr, PA, Dr. Anthony Stefanelli, Philadelphia, Leah Sadare and husband Tayo, Annandale, VA, Christina Stefanelli and fiancé Creston Smoker, Lancaster; great-grandchildren, Matthew and Alyssa Stepanski and Malaki and Exodus Sadare; son-in-law, Joseph Stepanski, Pittston Township; and many nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by sisters, Anna Lizza, Dora Lercara, and Janet Carone; brothers, Joseph, Samuel and Ralph Lizza.
In following Carmella's wishes, there will be no public viewing. Services are private and interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Carverton. Arrangements are entrusted to Adonizio Funeral Home, 251 William Street, Pittston, PA.
