Mary A. Pizzano, 96, of Exeter, passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 14, 2018 in Riverstreet Manor Wilkes-Barre where she has been a resident for the past six months. Born in Wilkes-Barre on May 4, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Christine Fetzer Graham.
Mary graduated from Pittston High School, class of 1940. She married Carmen M. Pizzano on May 26, 1941. They were married for 68 years until Carmen passed away on March 4, 2009.
Mary and Carmen had four children, sons Barry and his wife, Christine of Dallas; Carmen J. and his wife Irene of Exeter; Richard of Hanover Township; and daughter Mary Ann Pizzano Walker who passed away January 18, 2013. Mary was also preceded in death by siblings brother Edward Graham and sisters Elizabeth (Betty) Telinchio and Anna Mae Gregory.
After raising her children, Mary worked various jobs; she taught CCD at Immaculate Conception now Corpus Christi Church in West Pittston and also was a den mother for cub scouts, while working at Pittston Hospital as a nurses aide. She also worked as a private duty nurse for a few patients and in 1965 Mary took care of her mother at her own home for 9 years until 1974 when her mother passed away. Mary also worked for Lazerus Department Store in Wilkes-Barre. Mary loved animals; especially her dogs, Toya Mia and Lamie.
Mary is also survived by 10 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren with one on the way due in April; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at 9:30am in St. Joseph Marello Parish, 237 William Street, Pittston. Those attending are asked to go directly to the church. There will be no calling hours and the family asks that flowers be omitted. Interment will follow in Memorial Shrine Cemetery, Wyoming.
Memorial donations may be made to Luzerne County SPCA or Blue Chip Farm Animal Refuge. Arrangements are entrusted to Adonizio Funeral Home, LLC, 251 William Street, Pittston.
