Angeline (Gela) Lispi


Angeline (Gela) Lispi, 96, of Yatesville, passed away unexpectedly surrounded by her family in Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township. Born in Yatesville on October 28, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Vincenza (Colarusso) Denesco.

Angeline attended Yatesville schools. She was an active member of St. Joseph Marello Parish, Pittston.

Gela was involved with the family businesses, Lispi Brothers Towing and Diner where she enjoyed cooking for friends and family. She was considered the “pasta and meatball specialist”. A true enjoyment of Gela’s was coffee with Baileys. She also enjoyed her trips to the casinos locally as well as to Atlantic City. She was everybody’s “Nana” and loved everyone and everyone loved her. She will be missed not only by her family, but also by her many friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Albert Lispi; brother Joseph (Pepo) Denesco; sisters Lillian Denesco Cresho; Vera Denesco; and Antoinette Denesco Guasto; nephew Joseph Cresho; and niece Anna Marie Lispi.

Surviving are her daughter Jackie Lispi with whom she resided; sons Joseph (Butch) Lispi and his wife Connie, Yatesville and Albert Lispi and his wife Kathleen, Plains; grandchildren Melissa Azaravich and her husband Kevin, Kingston; Gela Griffin and her husband Rich, Yatesville; Catrina Ozgo and her husband Colby, Plains and Gina Murray and her husband Mike, Plains; great-granddaughters Audrina Griffin and Gia Murray; sister-in-law Osma Lispi, Yatesville; numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at 9am from Adonizio Funeral Home, LLC, 251 William Street, Pittston with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30am in St. Joseph Marello Parish, 237 William Street, Pittston. Interment will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Carverton. Friend may call Monday, April 2, 2018 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at the funeral home.
