Walter John Pega


Walter John Pega, 91, of Exeter, passed away Sunday, April 22, 2018 in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. Born in the Keystone Section of Plains Township on March 23, 1927, he was the son of the late John and Maria Valentini Pega.

He was a graduate of Plains High School and served in the US Army during World War II. After the War, he attended the GI school for watch repair. He retired from McKenny Corporation, Moosic.

Walter was a life member of the Perugia Club, Keystone. He enjoyed watching sports on television. He was a quiet man who loved his family and most of all, he was a true gentleman.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Doris (Italiani) Pega on August 20, 2017; and sisters Irma Volpe and Anna Pega.

Surviving are his son John Pega, Exeter; daughter Lisa Kohut and her husband Robert, Pittston; grandsons Marius and Cameron Kohut; sister Catherine Ninotti, Wyoming; numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at 9:15am from Adonizio Funeral Home, LLC, 251 William Street, Pittston with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30am in St. Joseph Marello Parish, 237 William Street, Pittston. Entombment will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Carverton. The family will receive friends and relatives from 8am-9:15am at the funeral home.
