Mary Alice Hoban


Mary Alice Hoban, 88, of Pittston, passed away Wednesday, May 2, 2018 in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. Born in Laflin on August 25, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Robert P. and Mary Delores Devlin Oliver.

She was a graduate of West Pittston High School and worked in the local garment industry.

Mary Alice was a member of the ILGWU and Our Lady of the Eucharist Parish, Pittston.

She was an avid reader. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and will be truly missed by family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son Michael Hoban; son-in-law George Carey; brothers James, John and Thomas Oliver; sisters Ann Marie Lynn and Catherine Dugan.

Surviving are son Robert Hoban and his wife Patricia, Scranton; daughters Mary Theresa Carey, Pittston; Patricia Nemeth and her husband Stephen, Avoca; Paula McDonough, Jenkins Township; Maureen Kosik and her husband Michael, Endicott, NY; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Helene Hoffman, West Chester; numerous nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, May 7, 2018 at 9:30am in Our Lady of the Eucharist Parish, 535 N. Main Street, Pittston. The family will receive friends and relatives in church from 8:30am until the time of mass. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in St. Mary’s Assumption Cemetery, Hughestown. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Pittston Memorial Library, 47 Broad Street, Pittston, PA 18640. Arrangements are entrusted to Adonizio Funeral Home, LLC, 251 William Street, Pittston.
