Mary Catherine VanEykeren, 80, of Pittston, passed away Thursday, May 17, 2018 at home. Born in Pittston on July 12, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Catherine Minegar Rowan.
She attended Pittston schools and worked in the local garment industry.
Mary Catherine was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed caring for her family and her home. She will be greatly missed.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her husband John Louis VanEykeren; brothers Francis, Thomas and Harry Rowan; sister Hilda Tigue.
Surviving are her son Robert VanEykeren and his wife Sue, Garfield, NJ; daughters Rose Horensky and her husband Thomas, Plains and Sheila Maisano and her husband Michael, Jenkins Township; grandchildren David and Sandra Maisano; brother Edward Rowan and his wife Charlain, Elmwood Park, NJ; sister Sheila Materazzi, Old Forge; nineteen nieces and nephews; and numerous cousins.
The family will receive friends and relatives Tuesday, May 22, 2018 from 4pm-7pm and Wednesday, May 23, 2018 from 9:30am until 11am at Adonizio Funeral Home, LLC, 251 William Street, Pittston. A Blessing Service will follow at 11am in the funeral home. Interment, St. John the Evangelist Cemetery, Pittston.
