Mary Rose Alt, 101, of Yatesville, passed away Thursday, May 24, 2018 at home. Born in Yatesville on April 15, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Battista (John) and Carmella (Mary) Martino Chiumento.
She attended Yatesville schools. Mary worked at Wilber B. Driver, Company, Newark, NJ until her retirement. She and her late husband, Norman Alt, retired in the Pocono Mountains, later moving to Plains and finally back home to Yatesville.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by sisters Josephine Fabrizio; Grace Butler; and Ida Brogna; and a brother John Chiumento.
Surviving are sisters Antoinette Vidzar and her husband Anthony, Yatesville and Elizabeth Chimento, Yatesville; brothers James Chimento, Pittston; Anthony Chimento, West Pittston; Joseph Chiumento, Pittston; Nick Chiumento, Yatesville and Ronald Chimento, Yatesville; numerous nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at 1pm in St. Joseph Marello Parish, 237 William Street, Pittston. Those attending are asked to go directly to the church. Interment will be in St. Rocco’s Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mary’s memory to Compassionate Care Hospice, 366 N. Main Street, Taylor, PA 18517 or to the charity of the donor’s choice. Arrangements are entrusted to Adonizio Funeral Home, LLC, 251 William Street, Pittston.
