Mary Hasinecz R.N., 81, of Duyrea, passed away Wednesday, July 4, 2018 in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. Born in Pittston on February 19, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Salvatore and Josephine (Ferraro) Leonardi.
Mary was a graduate of Pittston High School, class of 1954. She received her R.N. degree from Pittston Hospital School of Nursing, class of 1957. She was employed at Maimonides Hospital, NY; Pittston Hospital, Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, LIU #18, and retired from Kings College Student Health Department.
Mary was a former member of St. Rocco’s Church, Pittston and a life member of Wyoming Valley Bowling Association USBC. She enjoyed trips to Florida with her family and friends. She also enjoyed going to the casino and bowling at Elko’s. She was a loving and caring mother and will be truly missed by family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James W. Hasinecz in 2003 and in 2004 by brothers Ross and Joseph Leonardi.
Surviving are her daughters Lisa Henry, U.S.V.I. and Joann Hadsall, Duryea; a granddaughter; 3 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and furry companions, Shania and Sophia.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, July 7, 2018 at 10am in St. Joseph Marello Parish, 237 William Street, Pittston. In accordance with Mary’s wishes there will be no visitation. Those attending are asked to go directly to the church on Saturday morning. Interment at the convenience of the family in St. Mary’s Byzantine Cemetery, Dallas. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to the charity of the donor’s choice. Arrangements are entrusted to Adonizio Funeral Home, LLC, 251 William Street, Pittston.
