Ruth Chairge


Ruth Chairge, 77, passed away peacefully Monday, July 9, 2018 at home surrounded by her family. Born in Wilkes-Barre on July 21, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Osick and Ruth Thomson Osick.

She was a graduate of Pittston Township High School, class of 1959. She was a member of St. Joseph Marello Parish.

In her earlier years, she helped and supported the family businesses founded by her husband.

Ruth loved to travel with her husband and family. She especially enjoyed beach trips to Cape May, NJ. and shopping with her grandchildren. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and will be truly missed.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years Joseph N. Chairge Sr. on April 19, 2007; brothers Joseph and Ronnie Osick and her adopted parents Marion and Julius Casavecchia (Household).

Surviving are her son Joseph Chairge and his wife Charlene, West Pittston; daughters Diann Chairge, Illinois; and Christine Chesniak and her husband Richard, Pittston Township; grandchildren Abigail Glodzik; Amber Chesniak; Joseph Chairge; Matthew Chesniak and his wife Brittnay; Bianca Chairge; Freddie Chairge; Richard Chesniak and Kevin Phillips; great-granddaughter Isabella; sister, Barbara Jamiolkowski; sister in law Maureen Osick Crackett; brothers in law Patrick Chairge; Anthony Chairge and his wife Patricia and John Chairge; numerous nieces and nephews.

The family extends a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Gerald Gibbons for the many years of excellent care he provided to Ruth, as well as to the staff at Hospice of the Sacred Heart and to Ruth’s caregiver, Maia.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, July 12, 2018 at 9:30am in St. Joseph Marello Parish, 237 William Street, Pittston. According to Ruth’s wishes, there will be no viewing. The family will receive friends and relatives in the church from 8:15am until the time of mass. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Carverton. Arrangements are entrusted to Adonizio Funeral Home, LLC, 251 William Street, Pittston.
