Paul Richard Devine, 76, of Yatesville, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Friday, August 31, 2018 in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. Born in Scranton on October 31, 1941, he was the son of the late Joseph and Catherine (Scheller) Devine.
Paul was a 1959 graduate of South Scranton Catholic High School. He had worked for 30 years for the Scranton Tribune and over 20 years for Walmart, Inc. Paul had a kind, sincere and loving heart. He cherished his family and would move mountains for them. Paul also had a profound love for his cats. He was an avid lifelong Boston Red Sox fan.
In addition to his parents, Paul was predeceased by three brothers and six sisters.
Surviving are his loving wife of 55 years, Nora (Castellino) Devine; daughters, Laurie Devine and her husband William Sribney, Manchester, Vermont, Jennifer DeFrees and her husband Scott, Bernville, PA; sisters, Lois Conway, Scranton, and Mary Virginia Moore, Delaware; grandchildren, Cecilia Devine, Adam Sribney, and Mason DeFrees; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, September 6, 2018, at 10:00am in St. Joseph Marello Parish, 237 William Street, with Rev. E. Francis Kelly officiating. Paul’s family will receive relatives and friends in the church from 9:00am until time of mass at 10:00am.
Interment will be at the convenience of the family. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made to the SPCA of Luzerne County. Arrangements are entrusted to Adonizio Funeral Home, LLC, 251 William Street, Pittston.
