Raymond Elwood Morgan


Raymond Elwood Morgan, 91, of Pittston, passed away Saturday, September 1, 2018, in the Gino J. Merli Veterans Center, Scranton, where he resided for the past three years.

Born in Pittston on May 31, 1927, he was the son of the late John and Hazel (Naugle) Morgan.

He attended Pittston Schools and had served in the US Navy during the Korean Era. Raymond retired from Atlas Chain and Cable, West Pittston.

He was a life-member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Pittston, where he also served as an usher, and a member of the Pittston American Legion. He was an avid Philadelphia Phillies fan.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Jack, Eugene and David Morgan.

Surviving are his brother George Morgan and his wife Lucille, Exeter; sister Hazel Dennis, Pittston; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the staff at the Gino J. Merli Veterans Center for the care and compassion they demonstrated over the past three years.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at 12:15pm from Adonizio Funeral Home, LLC, 251 William Street with religious services at 1:00pm in St. John’s Lutheran Church, 7 Wood Street, Pittston. Interment will follow in Marcy Cemetery, Duryea. Friends may call Tuesday, September 4, 2018 from 5pm-8pm at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Gino J. Merli Veterans Center, Scranton or to St. John’s Lutheran Church, Pittston.
