Joseph C. Lello


Joseph C. Lello, 86, of Jenkins Township, passed away Saturday, September 29, 2018 in the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Wilkes-Barre. Born in Dupont on January 2, 1932, he was the son of the late Joseph and Rose Shambe Lello.

He was a graduate of Dupont High School and attended Wilkes College.

Joseph served in the US Coast Guard during the Korean War.

In his earlier years he worked for Capitol Records in Scranton and retired from Tobyhanna Army Depot. Joseph was also a longtime bartender for Genetti’s in Wilkes-Barre. He enjoyed watching sports; especially Penn State Football, NY Yankees, and NY Giants.

He was a loving husband and father and will be greatly missed.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother John Lello.

Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Margaret Valvonis Lello; sons Joseph Lello and his wife Mollie, Hudson; and Michael Lello, NY; grandchildren Casey and Cody Lello; sister Angeline Lacomis and her husband John, Dupont; sister-in-law Ann Lello, Dupont; numerous nieces and nephews.

Special thank you to the staff at the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center for the compassionate care they provided to Joseph.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at 9:30am in St. Joseph Marello Parish, 237 William Street, Pittston. The family will receive friends and relatives in the church on Wednesday morning from 8:30am until the time of mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Red Cross. Private interment will be held at the convenience of the family in Denison Cemetery, Swoyersville.
