Raymond Anthony Yunkunis, 83, of West Pittston passed away Monday, October 15, 2018 in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. Born in West Pittston on October 12, 1935, he was the son of the late Anthony and Ann Poliwater Yunkunis.
He attended West Pittston schools and retired from Techneglas Manufacturing.
Ray was a member of Corpus Christi Parish, West Pittston. He was an avid Wyoming Area sports fan and enjoyed attending his children’s and grandchildren’s school and sporting activities. He especially enjoyed watching the NY Yankees, NY Giants, and Notre Dame Football. He enjoyed the simple things in life and could be found sitting on his front porch visiting with neighbors.
He was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather and will be truly missed.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by both his wife, Patricia Sypniewski Yunkunis and brother Thomas Yunkunis in 2013.
Surviving are his children, Raymond Yunkunis and his wife Kimberly, Mason, OH; Barbara Silveri and her husband Bruce, West Wyoming; Kathy Bellino and her husband Joe, West Pittston; and Patricia Carter and her husband Gary, Wyoming; grandchildren Jackie Silveri, Matthew Silveri, Anthony Bellino, Aaron Carter, Ryan Carter, and Alyssa Yunkunis; great-granddaughters Elizabeth Silveri and Alexa Belcher; brothers Charles Yunkunis and his wife June, West Pittston and William Yunkunis and his wife Suzanne, Tunkhannock; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services will be Friday, October 19, 2018 at 9:30am from Adonizio Funeral Home, LLC, 251 William Street, Pittston with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in Corpus Christi Parish, 605 Luzerne Avenue, West Pittston. Interment will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, Cedar Street, Exeter. Friends may call Thursday, October 18, 2018 from 5pm-8pm at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
