Anna Mae Ames, 81, of Pittston, died Thursday, December 13, 2018 in Allied Services Skilled Nursing Facility, Scranton.
Born in 1937, in Pittston, she was involved in church activities at St. John the Baptist Church for most of her life and continued with St. John the Evangelist and other local churches after consolidation of churches years ago. Anna always enjoyed her times with the Christian Mothers’ Society and the Rosary Prayers.
Anna enjoyed life and was always on the go. When the many yearly traditional church picnics took place, she was there. The Tomato Festival was a yearly fun time meeting friends and enjoying the food. If there were pierogis or potato pancakes at any of the picnics, she never missed her treats. She enjoyed socializing with her friends and dancing into the night. She had a fondness for seeing Elvis impersonators and would talk about the show to everyone.
She was preceded in death by a brother Charles Matusevich and sister Susan Wylam.
She is survived by 5 children, Billy, Myrtle Beach, SC; Joey and his wife Arlene, Dunmore; Bobby and his wife Terri, Peckville; Stevie, Wyoming; and Ellen and her companion Mark, Myrtle Beach, SC; 7 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; sister Rosie and her husband Peter Kachinsky; sister-in-law Geraldine Matusevich, CT; and brother-in-law Paul Wylam, Old Forge.
