Sally L. Butera Musto


Sally L. Butera Musto, of West Pittston, passed away Thursday, December 27, 2018. Born in Pittston, she was a daughter of the late Louis and Pearl Medico Butera.

She was a graduate of West Pittston High School and received a Bachelors’ of Arts degree in Drama and English from Misericordia University.

Sally was a substitute teacher at West Pittston High School for many years and later established her own business, Sally Musto’s Accents, for 18 years. She enjoyed fashion and design and was always dressed to the nine’s. She hosted many get-togethers with family and friends. Sally enjoyed baking her favorite Italian pepper cookies and apple pies.

She was a past member of the Ladies Golf Association at Fox Hill County Club; the Westmoreland Club, Wilkes-Barre; and the West Pittston Junior Women’s Club.

Her foremost enjoyment in life came from her family whom she loved very much. Sally’s two grandchildren were her pride and joy and she loved being called, “Nanny”.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband William J. Musto, of 46 years and brothers Joseph and Charles Butera.

Surviving are her son Atty. William A. Musto and his wife Julia of Sterling, Virginia; grandchildren, Charles Joseph in his second year at the U.S. Naval Academy, Annapolis, MD and Alderson Leigh a freshman at Auburn University, Auburn, AL; sister Tina Menn, Exeter and sister-in-law Lucy Butera, West Pittston; nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family extends a thank you to Mercy Center Personal Care and Skilled Nursing Units; Wesley Village and to Dr. James Bruno for their extensive care and support.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 10am in Corpus Christi Parish, 605 Luzerne Avenue, West Pittston. Those attending are asked to go directly to the church on Saturday morning. Interment will be private in Denison Cemetery, Swoyersville. Friends may call Friday, January 4, 2019 from 5pm to 8pm at Adonizio Funeral Home, LLC, 251 William Street, Pittston. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Childrens’ Research Hospital, PO Box 1000. Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38101-9908 .
