Dominick J. Aritz, Sr., 69, of West Pittston, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, January 12, 2019, in Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton.
Born in Wilkes-Barre on March 16, 1949, he was the son of the late Joseph and Grace DeMarco Aritz.
Dom was a graduate of the first class at Wyoming Area High School, class of 1967, and Wilkes University. He served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. Dom worked as an electrician and was a retired member of the IBEW Local 163. Dom was involved with scouting for many years. He served as scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 352, West Pittston, for over 25 years. He attained the rank of Eagle Scout and inspired both of his sons to do the same. He was a former Wyoming Area school board member. Dom was actively involved as a community leader throughout West Pittston Borough. He was a mason and a member of Valley Lodge #499 F&AM.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Aritz Buzza.
Surviving are his sons, Dominick (Nick) Aritz Jr., Luzerne and Patrick Aritz and his wife Tiffany, Sellersville; grandchildren, Landen and Ella Aritz and Layton and Ellie Aritz; brother, Sam Aritz and his wife Karen, Exeter; numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends and relatives Friday, January 18, 2019, from 5pm-8pm at Adonizio Funeral Home, LLC, 251 William Street, Pittston and will conclude with Military Honors and Blessing Service. Interment will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Dominick Aritz, Sr. Memorial Fund at Fidelity Bank, Pittston.
