Ann Catherine Noone, 80, of Pittston, passed away peacefully Friday evening, December 31, 2021. Born in Pittston on November 17, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Daniel C. and Catherine Bittner O’Connell.
Ann was a graduate of St. John the Evangelist High School and Wilkes-Barre Business College. She also attended Luzerne County Community College where she earned credits in insurance and real estate. Ann began her career as the secretary to the Executive Director of Catholic Social Services; Monsignor Matthew F. Boylan and Monsignor Donald McAndrews. She went on to work for Bell Telephone as a member of its public relations staff. Then, after 15 years at home raising her family, she resumed her career in banking where she worked for First Bank of Greater Pittston and Wells Fargo. She went on to work for Joyce Insurance as an administrative assistant for 11 years before retiring in 2011.
She was involved in many capacities with the
Pittston Memorial Library; Secretary to the Friends of the Library, Secretary to the Executive Board, served on the ad hoc committee and volunteered on many projects. In 2017, Ann was the recipient of the Jean Yates Award in honor of her outstanding service to the library. Ann was also a member of the West Pittston Junior Women’s Club for many years and served as vice president of the Women’s Network of the Chamber of Commerce.
Ann was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church, Pittston. She was a member and past president of St. John’s Altar and Rosary Society and served as a lector for 33 years. A loving mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend; she will be greatly missed. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Thomas W. Noone in 2012, her brother-in-law, James P. Noone and her sister-in-law, Anne Noone.
Surviving are her children, Thomas W. Noone Jr., DMD and wife Cynthia Flanagan, DMD, Myerstown, PA; Sharon DeCarli and her husband Anthony A. DeCarli III, DMD, Archbald; Ellen Walsh and her husband William Walsh, Jenkins Township; William Noone and his wife Tammy Noone, Exeter; and Daniel Noone and his wife Katie Noone, Hughestown; 10 grandchildren; Garrett, Eliza and Davis Noone, Michael and Joel DeCarli, Billy and Matthew Walsh, Casey and Brady Noone, and Ryan Noone; sisters-in-law, Anne Reilly (Thomas), West Pittston; Ellen Boyle (William), Clarks Summit and brother-in-law, Frank J. Noone, Inkerman and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends and relatives Wednesday, January 5, 2022, from 9am-11am in St. John the Evangelist Church, 35 William Street, Pittston. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11am. Interment, parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. John the Evangelist Care and Concern Clinic or the Pittston Memorial Library.
