Anne E. Carmody passed away October 2, 2022. Born in Pittston on November 1, 1946, Anne was the first of five children of the late Joseph Carmody and Jule Hines Carmody, of West Pittston.

Anne was a graduate of St. John the Evangelist High School, Pittston, and Wilkes-Barre Business School.
She enjoyed a wonderful work career first at King’s College Evening School; many years at the Pittston Sunday Dispatch and the last thirty years at Geisinger Health Plan, from which she recently had retired.
Anne greatly enjoyed and cherished out of town trips to cousins’ and friends’ homes and took great pleasure in entertaining all who visited her home. She earned the beloved nickname “Aunt Annie Babes” by family and friends.
Most of all, Anne showed tremendous love and support to all her family, especially her nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.

over the years and especially friends and family Kenny, Shane, John, Stacey, Chris, Lorie, and Julie who went above and beyond in their care.
Anne is survived by sisters, Mary Carmody, Laflin and Julie Carmody, Pittston; brothers, the Honorable Joseph Carmody and wife Cathy (Sowa) Carmody, West Pittston, and James Carmody and wife Pauline (Gildea) Carmody, Franklin, TN.
Also surviving are nieces Dr. Jennifer Zambo and her husband Dr. David Zambo, Bethlehem, Colleen Carmody and fiancé Alex Bourdelais, Philadelphia, Sarah Salvo and husband Kevin Salvo, Havertown; nephews Joseph Carmody and his wife, Emily (Borgelt), Jenks, OK, Christopher Carmody and his wife, Lorie Ann (Renfer), Suscon, Matthew Carmody, Esquire, and his wife Amanda (Wascavich), West Pittston, and Michael Carmody and fiancé, Karen Tavenner Acosta, Washington DC. Grandnieces Julia, Emma, and Sarah Zambo; Ella Carmody, Norah Salvo and Caroline Carmody and grandnephews Owen, Colin, Daniel and Joseph G. Carmody and Ethan Salvo.
Relatives and friends can visit Anne’s family on Friday, October 7, 2022, from 4 PM to 7 PM at Adonizio Funeral Home, LLC, 251 William Street, Pittston.
A mass celebrating Anne’s life will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2022 at 9:30 AM, St. John’s Evangelist Church, 35 William Street, Pittston. Father Paul McDonnell, OSJ will celebrate the mass. Those attending the funeral mass are asked to go directly to the church Saturday morning. Interment will be private at a later date. Finally, in Anne’s memory, extend an act of kindness to one another.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Care and Concern Ministry at St. John the Evangelist Church, 35 William Street, Pittston, PA.
