Anthony P. Bonomo (Schling)

Anthony P. Bonomo (Schling), 82, of Yatesville passed away Friday morning, September 29, 2023, at home, after years of a courageously battling cancer.

Born in Yatesville, he was the son of the late Frank (Che-Che) Sr. and Eleanor (Borum) Bonomo.


After graduating from Jenkins Township Yatesville borough school, he attended Wilkes-Barre business college.


Anthony served 33 years in the Yatesville police department, 31 ½ of them as chief of police. He served 24 ½ years of military service in the US Army, PA Army National Guard 109th FA Staff Sergeant. He also was a member of the Yatesville Volunteer Fire Department for 30 years attending Fire School in 1968 and 14 years as secretary of the Fire Department.


Anthony drove truck for Bonomo Trucking & Top Soil owned by his father Frank Bonomo, Sr. He was last employed by KTL Trucking, Pittston township owned by Janet & Stanley Kuna.


Anthony was a lifelong car enthusiast. Restoring cars was his passion and greatest hobby. He was an active member as well as a charter/founding member of Pocono Mountain Street Rod car club, a charter member of the National DeSoto car club, and the Edsel International car club.


He loved his country and the flag, always displaying his flag at his front door and only purchasing American made vehicles.


He was a member of St. Joseph Marello Parish, Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Pittston, serving as an usher for many years.


The Avenue Restaurant in Wyoming was a home away from home; from the delicious meals to the wonderful staff who treated him like family to his dearest friendships with Elizabeth & Rebeckah. Lombardo’s was part of his daily routine for coffee and the newspaper. He enjoyed seeing Tamika daily.


Surviving are his daughter June Marie Hunt & husband Larry along with 2 grandsons Connor and Cole. Siblings: Frank Jr (Sonny) Bonomo, Yatesville, Judi Maxwell, Florida, Joseph Bonomo, Yatesville, and MaryEllen Gomes, Virginia, 7 nieces and nephews, and beloved cousins.


Sincere and deep gratitude to Dr. Bruce Saidman and staff along with Dr Mauer Biscotti, Dr. Ali and staff for their devotion and support.


The family will receive friends and relatives Monday, October 2, 2023, from 11am-12:45pm in Adonizio Funeral Home, LLC, 251 William Street, Pittston. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1pm in St. Joseph Marello Parish, 237 William Street, Pittston. Interment will follow with Military Honors in Pittston Cemetery.
