Arlene Keegan

Arlene Keegan, 62, of Pittston, formerly of New York, passed away Monday, February 9, 2026 in Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township.

Born in Brooklyn, New York, she was the daughter of Inger Lise Asperoy Engebretsen and the late Randolph Edward Engebretsen.

Arlene was a graduate of Ft. Hamilton High School Brooklyn and SUNY New Paltz, NY.  She completed her Masters of Education at The College of Staten Island. 

Arlene was a loving mother and a devoted teacher in New York for over twenty years. She enjoyed supporting various charitable organizations, especially St Jude’s. She loved traveling, the beach, and was an avid reader. She’ll be remembered for her caring and compassionate nature and her sharp wit.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a brother, James Engebretsen. 

Surviving, in addition to her mother, are her sons, Daniel Keegan and Colin Keegan, Staten Island, NY and Joshua Orkwis, Pittston, her brother, John Engebretsen (Dawn), Staten Island, NY; and longtime companion, John Callaio, Pittston. She was a loving aunt to several nieces, Rhiannon, Leighanne, Kayla and Laura.

The family will receive friends and relatives Sunday, February 15, 2026, from 12noon to 2pm with a Blessing Service to follow in Adonizio Funeral Home, LLC, 251 William Street, Pittston.
