Audrey Anne Hornick Kennedy of Edwardsville, PA entered eternal peace on December 19, 2025, at Allied Services Meade Street Skilled Nursing in Wilkes Barre, PA. Audrey was 89 years old.

The daughter of the late Mary (Chonka) and Joseph E. Hornick, she was born on June 14, 1933, in Wilkes Barre, PA. A graduate of Exeter High School, (PA), she earned a Diploma in Nursing from Mercy Hospital, (Wilkes Barre, PA), a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from College of Misericordia, (Dallas, PA), and a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst.
Audrey had a fruitful nursing career which included Surgery Nursing at Lankenau Hospital, (Wynnewood, PA), and Thomas Jefferson Medical Center, (Philadelphia, PA), Emergency Room Head Nurse at Mercy Hospital, (Wilkes Barre, PA), and Nurse Practitioner at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst. As a nursing educator, she taught Adult Care Nursing at Holyoke Community College in Massachusetts and as Assistant Professor of Nursing at Washburn University in Topeka, KS. She was awarded Assistant Professor Emeritus upon her retirement from Washburn. She touched the lives of hundreds of students throughout her career.
Audrey was a member of Sigma Theta Tau, International Nursing Honor Society, (Eta Kappa Chapter), The American Nursing Association and the Kansas State Nursing Association.
During retirement, Audrey volunteered as a book sorter for the Topeka-Shawnee County Public Library and Friends of The Library Book Sale in Topeka, KS. She was also a volunteer for the Stormont-Vail Health Center where she received “Star Among Stars” recognition for her volunteer services.
In addition to her parents, Audrey was preceded in death by her nephew, Peter Cicacci and sisters Elizabeth (“Betty Joan”) Pellegrino, Mary Claire Manganiello and Brother-in-law Robert J. Manganiello. Audrey is survived by niece Carolyn Calabrese and her husband, John Spitters, great nephews Christopher A. Calabrese and Mark Cicacci, great nieces Jill and Jennifer Cicacci and several great-great nieces, nephews and cousins.
In her final years, Audrey often spoke of the joy of finally meeting her biological child, Virginia (“Ginny”) Fish, her husband Michael, grandchildren Joseph Coslan, Courtney Fish, Michala Sheranko and husband Zachary, and great grandchildren Nola, Levi and Denver. Knowing they were all happy and doing well brought Audrey great comfort.
The family is thankful to the administrators and staff of caregivers and nurses at Allied Skilled Nursing Services, Meade Street, in Wikes Barre, PA.
Audrey will be laid to rest with her sister, Mary Claire Manganiello, at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Wyoming, PA where private interment with the rite of Committal will be held.
