Bridget (Blanche) Simone

Bridget (Blanche) Simone, 101, of Pittston, passed away peacefully, Saturday morning, August 15, 2020 at home.

Born in Port Griffith on March 31, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Josephine Orlando Amitia.

Bridget attended Pittston schools and had worked for several years at Topps Chewing Gum. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and will be truly missed by family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Carmen Simone; brothers, Michael Amitia and Anthony Amitia; sisters, Josephine Andoloro and Marie Arcarese; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Surviving are her daughters, Rosalie Bellanca

and her husband Cataldo, and Donna Ricker

and her husband Robert, all of Pittston; granddaughter Christie Lambert and her husband Justin, Plains; great-grandchildren, Natalie and Carmen Lambert; sister, Helen Curry, Stroudsburg; sister-in-law, Mary Petersen, CA; numerous nieces and nephews.

Special thank you to Bridget’s caregiver, Gladys Thomas of At Home Quality Care; as well as to the nurses and staff at Hospice of the Scared Heart and Wesley Village for the compassionate care they provided.

The family will receive friends and relatives (following the CDC guidelines of wearing a face covering and maintaining social distance)for a walk through visitation on Wednesday, August 19, 2020 from 5-8pm in Adonizio Funeral Home, LLC, 251 William Street, Pittston.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, August 20, 2020 at 9:30am in Our Lady of the Eucharist Parish, 535 North Main Street, Pittston following CDC guidelines. Those attending are asked to go directly to church on Thursday morning. Interment, Dension Mausoleum, Swoyersville.
