Catherine (Bunky) Kelly Bender, 93, of Avoca passed away at home Thursday evening, August 11, 2022.
Born in Pittston on June 26, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Ellen McEliece Kelly.
Catherine was a graduate of Pittston High School.
She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and will be greatly missed.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore A. Bender in 1996, siblings, James, Thomas, Michael and Dick, Kelly and Nan Judge and Lois Capegrano.
Surviving are her children, Alice Raber (Bill), Exeter; Joseph Bender (Ann), Dallas, TX; Ted Bender, Avoca; Kathie Elechko (Matt), Harding; Timothy Bender, Avoca; and Lois Albright (Bill), West Pittston; many grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; sisters, Sheila Walsh, Pittston and Jo Ellen Devlin, CT; sisters-in-law, Ann Berto, Hughestown and Rosalie Bender, Florida; numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends and relatives Tuesday, August 16, 2022, from 5pm-7pm in Adonizio Funeral Home, LLC, 251 William Street, Pittston. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, August 17, 2022, at 9:30am in St. John the Evangelist Church, 35 William Street, Pittston. Attendees are asked to go directly to the church. Interment, parish cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Care and Concern Ministries, St. John the Evangelist Church.
