Catherine Marie Gunning, 89, of Wyoming, passed away at home, Monday, April 24, 2023.
Born in Pittston on June 3, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Elizabeth Kaiser Schwartz.
She was a graduate of St. John the Evangelist High School, Pittston. In her earlier years, she had worked in the local garment industry and for TOPPS chewing gum. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and will be greatly missed.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Gunning; daughter, Mary Beth Carra; and sisters, Bernetta Schwartz and Barbara Schwartz.
Surviving are her sons, John Gunning, Wyoming and Joseph Gunning, Moosic; grandchildren, Joan Mitchell and her husband Scott, Wyoming; Jeff Gunning and his girlfriend Adrian, Philadelphia; Anthony Carra and Lauren Carra, both of Dunmore; great grandchildren, Jo-Anna Gunning, Wyoming and Jocelyn Gunning, Philadelphia; son-in-law, Joseph Carra, Dunmore; and sister, Mary Black, Canada.
The family will receive friends and relatives Friday, April 28, 2023, from 9am-11am in Adonizio Funeral Home, LLC, 251 William Street, Pittston. A Blessing Service will be held at 11am in the funeral home. Interment, St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Moscow.
